It was a glamorous sight to behold as the House of Representatives candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu, received a Chieftaincy title as ‘Ada Di Ebube Ndigbo’, from the traditional ruler of Umuawulu, His Royal Majesty Igwe Dr. Joel Maduadichie Egwuonwu (Ezeudo II of Umuawulu).

Conferring the ‘Ada Di Ebube Ndigbo’ title on Prof. Orogbu during the 2022 Iwaji Festival on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Umuawulu Palace Ground, Awka South local government area of Anambra state, HRM Igwe Egwuonwu, described her as both acceptable by the people and an exemplary personality, who has reached the pinnacle of her career.

According to the traditional ruler, “God has remembered Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu today because this title is ordained by God. This title is recognised the world over, and she merited it due to her contributions in society.
“This award is predicated on your meritorious services and invaluable contributions towards the peace and progress of our dear people”, Igwe Egwuonwu enthused. He also described the Labour Party as the party of the moment, and expressed optimism that God would perfect his divine plans come 2023, adding that “God is the person who crowns Kings”.

Responding, Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu, thanked the royal father for finding her worthy, and described him as a peaceful, reputable and credible personality, which, according to her, were part of reasons she accepted the title. She promised to be a worthy ambassador of Umuawulu, Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

One of the guests, Sen. Victor Umeh, who is also the standard-bearer of Labour Party for Anambra Central Senatorial District, had in a remark, congratulated Igwe Egwuonwu and Prof. Orogbu, and urged his audience to support the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and other candidates under the Labour Party come 2023 general elections.
