The director of public health, Benue state ministry of health, Dr. Terna Kur, has cautioned pharmacies and patent medicines stores operating in the state have been warned to  adhere strictly with conditions and terms of references.

Kur made this disclosure while speaking with journalists Thursday in Makurdi, the Benue state capital city as he warned that any pharmacy or patent medicine store operators involved in illegal or unethical activities would be sanctioned in accordance with the law.The warning came against the backdrop of reports that some of the pharmacies engaged in the practice of admitting patients and other illegal services like abortion, administering family planning services, among others, to ignorant patients.

They  were  also accused  of carrying  out   tests for COVID-19 and other sharp practices just because some uninformed patients now prefer seeking medical attention from them, rather than from the regular health system.

According to observers, in recent times, cases of abortion drug abuse have been on the increase due to such nefarious activities.
