The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra state command has commenced a 3-week rigorous and intensive training towards developing capacity and effective service delivery for the newly established Female Squad of the Command.

The state commandant, Vincent Ogu, who disclosed this while addressing participants in Awka, said the aim of establishing the squad was to prevent the unprovoked and mindless attacks in schools.

Ogu, who spoke through the head of training department, Osiliem Alex, charged the participating officers to take the training seriously.

He added that the training would help the officers to perform their roles better.

“The Female Squad is structured as a proactive measure towards guaranteeing safety and restoring the confidence of students, parents, teachers and the communities where the schools are situated,” he said.

While explaining that the CG was very much interested in the squad to complement the efforts of their male counterparts, the NSCDC boss appealed to them to pay more attention in order to achieve the much-desired results after the training.

“The squad, at the end of the training, is expected to collaborate with sister security agencies in combating security challenges facing the nation,” he added.

Among the courses outlined for the training programme were parade, combat drill, intelligence gathering, weapon handling techniques, report writing, conflict analysis and resolutions, public relationship and fundamental human right.
