The resident priest at Christ Holy Church International, Isiokwe Onitsha, Rev Solomon Asuru, has urged christians to have a forgiving spirit and a pure heart, especially in the Christmas season.

He gave the charge, while delivering his sermon at the Christmas Carol service/praise night, held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Church cathedral in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Asuru, who quoted from John 3: 16, admonished the church to show love to their neighbors, knowing that the celebration of the birth of Jesus was an expression of the love of God for mankind.

In his words, “Jesus Christ is a gift to us. His birth will be meaningless if we do not understand that his birth was an expression of love for Mankind. As we are about to enter the New Year, we should forgive all that has wronged us”

“No one should enter the New Year with grudges and bitterness, we should enter the year with a pure and clean heart. Christ came into the world to reconcile us with the father” he said.

The high points of the event were high praise sessions, led by top Southeastern gospel artistes; Chinedu Nwadike, ‘kulie niwe’ and Sunday Alajekwu the ‘azonto for christ’ crooner.

The event also witnessed choral renditions and group photographs.
