The Chairman of the Afikpo South local government area of Ebonyi State, Mr Eni Uduma Chima, on Friday, told the former secretary to the federal government that his vituperation against the state Governor Engr David Umahi was due to jealous of his rising political profile in the country.

Eni said their unholy agenda is to denigrate and insult the God-sent Governor of Ebonyi State, but advised that Anyim should re-trace his step.

Anyim, a former Senate president of Nigeria had in an open letter to Umahi which he copied to president Mohammadu Buhari and security chiefs, describe Umahi as pitiably delusional man and prisoner of his greed.

He said Umahi was a prisoner of his greed and inordinate ambition. Adding that he was a drowning man looking for who to drag down with him.

Senator Anyim also accused Umahi of planning to kill him and other top political stakeholders of the state for refusing to join him to APC.

“The only offence we committed is that we refused to follow Gov. Umahi in his political adventure. We do not know when belonging to parties of one’s choice has become an offence against a Governor or means fighting a Governor.

“It is clear that Gov. Umahi may have been told that he needs to kill a high-profile person to achieve his mad ambition. Ebonyians should be wise and those he is preparing to use for the killings should know that after using them he will also plan to kill them to cover his track. “. Anyim said in the letter.

But Eni Uduma, a strong supporter of Gov Umahi’s lead administration in his reaction to the open letter said the erstwhile SGF was jealous of the Governor’s political rising profile and achievements in the state.

He said Senator Anyim is irrelevant to the development of Ebonyi State as he could not perform as a Senator and as SGF, therefore, should be disregarded.

He said, “We could not believe that the watery, wishy-washy open letter circulating in the electronic and printed media actually emanated from Senator Anyim Pius Anyim though it bore his name, for the fact that the obese Senator has failed to disclaim the thrash.

“The kernel of Senator Anyim’s write up is that the defection of Governor Umahi to APC is not necessary and will be regretted and that Anyim and his co-travellers are needed by the Umahi Administration to fine-tune and stabilize the defection to ensure that Ebonyi State in totality joins the Governor.

“Senator Anyim Pius made no significant advancement on a lot of Ebonyi people as a Senator, he could not pin-point where the Ebonyi interest lay nor was he able to show understanding of the issues then, he was often literally lost on the floor of the Senate.

“Anyim has remained an embarrassment to Ebonyi State in all the political positions he has ever occupied.

“We strongly advise him to retrace his steps and enjoy his political retirement inquietude. This is one fight he cannot win, for Engr. Umahi is not Dr Egwu, that is, assuming that he even won Dr Egwu.

“Ebonyi people have seen the clear difference between Gov. Umahi and other leaders. Governor Umahi represents a new Ebonyi of urban renewal, urbanization of hitherto rural communities, provision of the massive high-quality infrastructure of roads, world-class hospitals, Airport, Stadium, rural electrification, Streetlights, Agricultural Revolution, human capacity building and empowerment, and politics of essence.

“In taking the opportunity of Governor Umahi’s defection to APC to separate themselves from the masses, Anyim and his cohorts only manifested a long existing discomfort of some few leaders who are jealous of the superlative achievements of the Ebonyi State Governor and who feel dwarfed by the Governor’s steady political progress in Ebonyi State, South-East region and Nigeria at large. In this separation of Anyim and cohorts from the Government and people of Ebonyi State, what Governor Umahi has lost are fats and not muscles.
