We’ll disrupt Anambra guber polls – Biafra group
By Phil Okose, Onitsha
Pro-Biafra group, the Biafra National Guard (BNG), has threatened to disrupt the Anambra state governorship election slated for November 6, 2021, if the federal government fails to release those it called ‘defenceless Biafrans’ being detained over the fight for sovereign state of Biafra.
Spokesman of the group, Colonel Nsikak Akpan, who issued the warning in Onitsha, Anambra state, yesterday, said the organisation would not tolerate further detention of pro-Biafra agitators by the Nigerian government.
He warned that “further detention will warrant severe consequences beginning with the disruption of the 2021 Anambra governorship election November 6 this year,” adding that “This is to remind all and sundry that these Biafran prisoners of conscience unjustly detained in the Onitsha and Awka Prisons for over fifteen (15) years must be unconditionally released and acquitted of all charges before the first quarter of the year 2021. Failure to release these innocent and defenceless Biafrans incarcerated because of the right to self-determination shall warrant severe consequences beginning with the disruption of the 2021 Anambra governorship election slated in November.”
He gave the names of their members detained “in the Onitsha and Awka Prisons as Uche Idikaigbo, Michael Okezie, Uchenna Nicholas, Peter Igbokwe, Ikechukwu Aghara, Mrs. Onyekachi Orji, Miss Okwudiri Bassey, Chima Asor and Chinweike Irondi, Sabastine Amadi, Casmir Odakara, Ojemba Anyanwu, Eni Kalu, Ndubisi Okam, Ikechukwu Chikwem, Emmanuel Orji, Chukwuma Kalu, Chidiebere Chikwem and Mmaduabuchi Asika.”
