Uwazuruike pays tribute to late Tanzanian president, Magufuli
By Phil Okose, Onitsha
Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, leader and founder of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has commiserated with the people and government of Tanzania on the death of President John Magufuli. He recalled that Tanzania assisted Biafra immensely during the Biafra-Nigeria civil war.
“We, Biafrans, still remain committed to the assistance rendered to us by the government and people of Tanzania during the Biafra-Nigeria civil war.
“The kind gesture to the people of Biafra by the government and people of Tanzania between 1967 and 1970 will, no doubt, foster stronger relationship between us even as the agitation for the creation of a sovereign Biafra state is currently going on through a nonviolent process.”
He said that Biafra still counted on the government and people of Tanzania for their usual assistance in the realisation of this noble project.
Uwazuruike recalled that MASSOB had in year 2000 made plans to pay a condolence visit to both the Tanzanian Embassy in Lagos and former president, Juluis Nyerenye’s family in his native Tanzania so as to formally acknowledge the great blessings which Nyerere had signified for the entire mankind.
In a statement signed and issued on his behalf in Onitsha by a MASSOB chieftain, Elder Chris Mocha, Uwazurke condoled the family of the late president.
