Umahi not alone in championing Igbo presidency – Ebonyi Commissioner
By Ruth Oginyi
A commissioner in Ebonyi state, Mr Ukie Ezeali, has disclosed that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was in a battle of survival with the defection of the Ebonyi state governor, Engr David Umahi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said Umahi’s clamour for Igbo presidency was a collective effort that the governor was not alone in the cause.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the commissioner, who backed Umahi’s defection, said his agitation that the zone should produce the next president of the country was not a lone agitation and commended the governor for it.
According to him, Nigerian president of Igbo extraction in 2023 would fulfil the official policy of reconciliation, reconstruction and reintegration which received mere lip service by pervious administration in the country.
Ezeali, who is serving as commissioner for project monitoring and evaluation in Umahi’s government, said agitations for south east presidency of Igbo extraction had increased and that it was necessary that the next president of the country should come from the zone in 2023 after President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.
