The Delta state police command, on Sunday, confirmed the arrest of three brothers for alleged kidnapping, among others, in Ughelli.
DSP Edafe Bright, the police public relations officer in the state, in a statement, disclosed that the three suspects, Godspower Okpara, Mathew Okpara and Godwin Okpara, were arrested in their hideouts while sharing N4 million ransom collected from the family of their victim.
Bright said that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation, adding that the suspects also blamed their involvement in kidnapping on their mother for not sending them to school when their father abandoned them for her alone.
Meanwhile, Bright has also confirmed that some gunmen attacked a police inspector on a police patrol team in Ashaka Community in Ndokwa East local government area, adding that they stabbed the inspector to death. He disclosed that the police had intensified efforts with a view to ensuring those behind the killing of the police inspector were arrested.
Also, a 42-year-old man, identified by the police as John Aregbor, allegedly slumped and died at the weekend while celebrating a neighbour’s birthday in a hotel in Oghara community in Delta state.
The police PRO said that the victim was dancing on the dance floor when he slumped and hit his head on the ground, leaving him in a pool of blood, adding that, before help could come his way to the hospital, he died as the party abruptly was in disarray.
