Teslim Balogun Stadium to host Eagles AFCON tie against Lesotho
The 24, 325 capacity Teslim Balogun Stadium, located in the Surulere area of Lagos will host next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture between the Super Eagles and Lesotho, billed March 30, Orient Sports reports.
This is the first time in more than a decade the senior national team would be playing a major game in Lagos.
Colin Udoh, who served as spokesman of the Nigerian senior national team, confirmed the news on the social media.
“EKO FOR SHOW: Nigeria v Lesotho #Afcon2021Q in March will be played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Plenty to unpack there @NGSuperEagles,”Udoh tweeted.
The Super Eagles will face the Squirrels of Benin Republic in Cotonou on March 25 before hosting Lesotho at home.
Gernot Rohr’s side defeated Lesotho 4-2 in the first leg in Maseru last year.
Udo’s tweet was corrobrated by an official of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, who however declined to be named in print.
“That’s what is on ground at the moment but of course, let’s see what happens going forward”, the official said tacitly.
