Francis Ogbonna, head coach of Ngwa United, says losing 3-1 to Plateau United in the ongoing #GovIkpeazuCup2020# is not a big deal, Orient Sports reports.

It was the rookies consecutive defeat in the tournament which has ultimately put their progression to the knock out phase in danger.
But the gaffer who has been a stand out figure at the tournament venue because of his complexion insists he has no hard feelings over the defeat.
“There’s no big deal losing (3-1) to Plateau United),  Ogbonna yelled.
“They are a Premier League club. In fact, they are the NPFL champions and one of Nigeria’s biggest club.

“So, I don’t think we should despair losing to them”.
After a scoreless first period, Plateau United came back strongly into the half and scored three goals inside 10 minutes and Ogbonna attributed his charges sudden collapse to fitness deficiency.
“We held out strongly in the first half. But in the second half, I think the players fitness dropped.

“You should expect that, their level of fitness as a result of training and ours isn’t the same.
“And of course, they are an experienced side, playing in the CAF champions League.
“Don’t also forget that the Covid-19 break affected things, making it difficult for our players and even officials to sit back at home without training for months.

“But gradually, we will get there”, the gaffer said, adding that his team is making gradual progress in terms of performance.
“We lost 3-2 in our first game. Today we lost 3-1. But our performance in the 3-1 defeat is better despite the fact that 3-2 is a more respectable result.

“I’m sure if the team we played today had not been a top team like Plateau United, if it had been a smaller team, the result would have been different”, Ogbonna concluded.
