By Sab Osuji
Jewels pacy forward, Chidozie Amos, set #GovIkpeazuCup2020# Preseason record on Thursday when he scored the tournament’s fastest goal, Orient Sports reports.
Amos picked a sumptuous pass from the middle of the pack, raced down the left hand channel, cutting inside the area like hot knife through butter, the fair skinned youngster ghosted his marking chasers, and just slightly inside the area, he picked his target calmly with a deft left effort which ricochetted inside the post off the woodwork with Cynosure goalkeeper stretching fruitlessly the wrong way.
That was two minutes after the kick off. Jewel held out firmly for a nervy 1-0 first half lead.
Winless in previous three games, Cynosure came back into business after the break determined to break their losing duck.
Their efforts were rewarded in the 54th minute when Osike Patrick converted a penalty.
Jewels flew back into lead on the hour mark when Jonadab Nwakaeme restored their advantage.
Minutes later, Pascal UBAH brought Cynosure back on level terms when he drilled home to get scoreline at 2-2.
With the players now enjoying themselves in the thrilling clash, Emmanuel Nwaigwe’s 83rd minute strike condemned Cynosure to a fourth consecutive defeat of the tournament.
Jewels finished third on the group A standings with six points.
A delighted Amos said he was happy he scored, irrespective of time and paid glowing tribute to the tournament organisers for a job well done.
