Simy should look beyond Crotone — Nwosu
Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo, has been told in no unclear terms to look for a better club to match his potentials and quality, Orient Sports reports.
Several of Nigeria’s leading football figures, especially those who have gone through the game, both at national and international stages have separately told the lanky Crotone of Italy ace the home truth.
This follows the eventual relegation of Crotone to the Italian Series B even with a game to spare in the current 2020/2021 season.
Adding his vouce to the need for Nwankwo not to sink with Crotone after his goals this term failed to keep them afloat in the Italian top flight, Henry Nwosu, a former Super Eagles captain, advised Simy to quit Crotone and look for a club that can match his quality ahead of next season.
It’s been a disappointing return for Crotone, who had so far managed only five wins in 34 Serie A games with Simy Nwankwo playing a big role in all of those wins.
Just on Saturday, Crotone was relegated from Serie A after losing 2-0 to Inter Milan at home.
The Nigerian international scored 19 goals for the Pythagoreans this season, with only Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku scoring more than him.
Nwosu insisted that Simy won’t find it difficult to get a club that will sign him next summer following Crotone’s relegation.
“Simy Nwankwo has proved to be a quality striker in Serie A where his goal scoring prowess has been fantastic.
“He’s deadly in front of goal any time he finds himself in the 18-yard box.
“It is so sad that his club, Crotone, has been relegated after losing to Inter Milan, but that is not the end of the world for him.
“Every club will definitely want to sign a player like Simy because he knows how to deliver the goals.
“I will advise him to move to a better club in Spain, England, and Italy where his impact can be felt in the Super Eagles”, Nwosu said.
