Chukwuma Nwoha set for surgery at FMC Umuahia
34 years after helping Nigeria win the 1985 FIFA U17 World Cup in China, Chukwuma Nwoha is currently in a race to save his life, Orient Sports reports.
Nwoha is currently admitted at the Federal Medical Center, FMC, Umuahia, where he has been billed to undergo surgery to correct an undisclosed ailment in his legs.
“Presently, Nwoha cannot stand and it is after the operation that he could stand”, an official of Abia Warriors who visited him at the hospital said.
“That’s not all, Nwoha also has a liver related problem”, the Abia Warriors official said.
After his contribution to Golden Eaglets triumph in China, the first global silverware won by Nigeria as at then, Nwoha had a brief career stint at IwuanyanwuNationale (now Heartland) of Owerri.
Checks by Orient Sports reveal that the fair skinned attack-minded midfielder would need an undisclosed sum of money to ensure his treatment.
Abia Warriors officials visited Nwoha at the hospital. “He was happy to see us. He also said our visit has lifted his spirit. He equally told us the National Association of Nigerian Players have been of huge financial help to him so far in his battle to regain his health”, the official added.
