SIGAF: 10 Years of Touching Lives Positively

Senator I. G. Abana Foundation(SIGAF) has been extolled as the saving grace to many families battling with difficulties in seeing to the educational and health essentials of their wards and elders.
It was an uncanny emotional moment as hundreds of beneficiaries of the foundation, friends, and families poured encomiums on their benefactor, Sen. I. G. Abana, during the celebration of the10th anniversary of the foundation held on Monday, 28th December 2020 at Uruekwo Primary school, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Despite the economic challenges rocking the Nigerian state, the foundation since its inception on 27th December 2010, has been living up to its vision statement which revolves around the six-point agenda. Viz, a scholarship scheme for indigent but intelligent secondary school and university students, financial empowerment for small scale entrepreneurs, particularly women; free medical services; special health intervention scheme for patients with terminal health conditions; foodstuff assistance for the poor and center for the elder scheme.
In his remarks, the Deputy-Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, extolled the philanthropic spirit of Sen. I. G. Abana, noting that it falls within the Aku Luo Uno philosophy of Obiano’s administration.
The highlight of the occasion was the empowering of 22 youths selected from the 18 villages of Enugwu-Ukwu in the skills of Tiling, Hairdressing, Confectionery, Welding, and Sewing.
Scholarship beneficiaries were given school fees cheques while free medical services were offered to the rank and file.
In a vote of thanks, the chairman and founder of SIGAF, Sen. I Abana, thanked all that graced the event and stated that the foundation was a divine project.
“Senator Abana is the sole contributor to the foundation. SIGAF does not accept any gift from anyone,” he furthered.
