The Nigerian senate, on Tuesday, lauded the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello and his head of COVID 19 Enforcement Team, Attah Ikharo for effectively handling the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
The senate committee on FCT was particularly impressed with Ikharo’s activities during the lockdown.
Making the commendation, chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Abubakar Kyari, said that federal lawmakers were impressed with the minister for providing a conductive environment and supporting the taskforce in its work.
Kyari, who spoke during the presentation of the revised 2020 budget of the FCT, noted that the level of death predicted by the West did not materialise because of the policies and strategies provided by the FCT.
His words: “Honourable minister, we, as a committee, appreciate the effort you and your team (put up) on the health sector, the palliative and the fumigation; and the security agencies especially the taskforce led by Attah.
“I remember, in our last meeting, I had to commend him, because he was all over the place. He was very active going from nooks and crannies trying to educate people, and also carrying out the enforcement of the taskforce regulations during that period.
“And I’m sure he derived his strength from the leadership of the honourable minister. I will like to commend all of you.”
Recall that as part of measures to contain and curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the territory, the FCT Administration set up five enforcement teams to monitor and enforce compliance with government directives on pandemic.
