Scouts flood Ikpeazu preseason for players
The maiden edition of #GovIkpeazuCup2020# preseason tournament has turned out to be a veritable talents hunting ground for scouts and club coaches to recruit players to bolster Thursday squads, Orient Sports reports.
With four matches a day, Enyimba Stadium, venue of the tournament, has witnessed a growing influx of these talent hunters who been their sights more on the players of the academy teams taking part in the tournament.
Abia Greater Tomorrow owned by former Super Eagles captain and defender, Uche Okechukwu, Ngwa United, A&A FC, Jewel FC, Flight FC are amongst the academy teams participating in the tournament.
And the youngsters have not come short of convincing anyone that they have skill steel aplenty in them to rub shoulders with the ‘big boys’ with rendition of thrilling performance of extraordinary quality.
Akwa United coach, Kennedy Boboye, has been a regular face at the tournament and the former Plateau United and U23 Eagles gaffer did not hide his mission in Aba.
Similarly, Austin Chinwendu, Who tinkers Vemard FC, an NLO side, equally admitted he was in Aba on scouting mission.
“Of course, that’s why I’m here”, he snapped.
“This #GovIkpeazuCup2020# tournament is throwing up lots of talented young players and I’m impressed”, he said vehemently refusing to disclose those he’s scouted.
“Truth is that the standard of the tournament is high so I commend the officials for the good job”.
