Sad Saturday in Abia, as 4 die in road accidents

It was a sad Saturday afternoon in Abia state, as four young men riding on motorcycles, lost their lives in two separate accidents that occurred along Enugu–Port Harcourt expressway.
One of the two accidents occurred at about 2.00pm at Okpuala Ngwa section of the expressway.
It involved a Toyota Camry car with registration number- SSM 496 BG, headed to Aba from Umuahia, which skidded off the road and rammed at two persons on a motorcycle,
The two motorcyclists died on the spot.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the Toyota Camry car lost control of his vehicle, which skidded off the expressway and knocked down the two young men on the motorcycle, while his car went into the bush.
Also, at Arungwa junction, along Umuahia-Aba section of Enugu-Port Harcourt, two motorcyclists were also killed by a driver of a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), who rammed into their motorcycle, killing two of the riders on the spot.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), at the Arungwa junction, who preferred anonymity, attributed the accidents to over speeding, by the motorists.
Efforts to reach Mrs. Janet Agbede, Abia state commissioner of police, failed as she could not respond to calls placed on her mobile telephone line before filing this report.
