Rangers striker dedicates goal to late Ifeanyi George
Enugu Rangers forward, Godspower Aniefiok, has dedicated his goal against Nasarawa United in a match day 17 fixture to former teammate late Ifeanyi George.
George died in an auto crash March 21, 2020, at Abudu, Edo State while on his way to Lagos to reunite with his family after the league was suspended following the outbreak of the Corona Virus Pandemic.
Godspower Aniefiok got the opening goal of the match two minutes after kick off, his third goal in the season and wasted no time in dedicating it to the memory of the late striker, Ifeanyi George.
“I am very happy to be amongst the scorers today and even more, the victory at the end of the match.
“I dedicate the goal to my former team mate and good friend, Late Ifeanyi George as today was exactly one year he left us.
“I am glad I scored a goal for him today”.
Rangers Chief Coach, Mbwas Mangut, says his Coal City Flying Antelopes charges did the expected needful by ensuring they grabbed the maximum points against Nasarawa United in their NPFL match day 17 clash at ‘The Cathedral’, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Nasarawa United went into the fixture sitting top of the standings.
But goals from Gods power Anifiok (2 mins) and Chinedu Eziekwe (9mins) ensured that Rangers turned back their guests empty handed.
“The most important thing in the match is the three points and we are happy we got them just as we started the game on a very good note”, Mbwas said.
“In the second half we gave them too much room to operate but thankfully they could not convert some of the chances created.
“Nasarawa United is a highly motivated side and they came here with all intentions to slow us down.
“But the early goals helped us to stabilize and we thank God for the win”.
