Rainstorm disaster: 300 households TO get NEMA relief materials in Oyo

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has begun distribution of relief materials to over 300 households from seven communities in Itesiwaju local government areas of Oyo state affected by rainstorm disaster in June 2020.
The affected communities are Okaka, Igbojaiye, Oke-Amu, Otu, Ipapo, Babaode all in Itesiwaju local government of Oyo State.
NEMA Director General, Muhammed Muhammadu said the gesture followed a request by Oyo State Emergency Management Agency (OYSEMA), which was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, through the office of the Director General of NEMA.
Muhammadu, represented by Mr Akiode Saheed, the acting Southwest zonal coordinator, said over 16 items including food and non-food materials such as Rice, Beans, Garri, Tin Tomatoes, Mattresses and Blankets were being distributed to the victims of 2020 rainstorm disaster.
Saheed in his speech urged citizens of the state to get ready for the raining season and ensure that houses are not built on water ways to forestall future reoccurrence of flooding in the state.
The State Deputy Governor who was ably represented at the distribution event by Mr. Lateef Adebayo appealed to the victims of rainstorm disaster to make good use of the materials distributed and cultivate the habit of planting trees to serve as wind breaker to mitigate future occurrence in the area.
