After much circulation in the realms of conjectures and speculations, and even threat, the executive governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, has finally broken ranks with the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
In a Press Release dated 17th November 2020, the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, noted that Gov. Umahi left PDP “for personal reasons, which Nigerians will come to know at the fullness of time.”
The statement further reads “Our party thanks Governor Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi state, as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP (2003 to 2007); deputy governor of Ebonyi state (2007 to 2015) and two term governor of Ebonyi (2015 till date), all elected on the platform of the PDP.”
Against the above backdrop, the National Working Committee of the PDP rose from a crucial meeting today (November 17, 2020) and announced the dissolution of the ward, local government, and state executive committees of the Ebonyi state chapter of the party forthwith.
The NWC also dissolved Southeast Zonal Caretaker Committee.
