Police officer in police net for defiling 10-year- old girl in Ebonyi

A retired deputy superintendent of police, Mr. Christopher Idam has been detained alongside another suspect, Mr Uka Chukwu for allegedly defiling a ten-year-old primary school girl at Amasiri-Amakpu in Afikpo north local government area of Ebonyi state.

Orient Weekend learned that the minor simply identified as Amarachi was sent by her mother to hawk cow-skin meat popularly known as ‘Kanda’ that fateful Saturday, August 17, when she came in contact with the suspects. According to a family source, when the victim’s mother waited for hours for her daughter to return, as usual, but to no avail, she launched a search for the girl and the trail eventually led her to the home of the retired police officer.

Things took a dramatic turn when the woman, soon after she discovered that her daughter had been lured into the apartment and defiled, raised alarm which attracted neighbours and passers-by leading to the arrest of the suspects by police at AmankpoAmasiri.

“When the victim was queried, she revealed that the retired police officer and her friend, Uka Chukwu has been luring her into their house with money to sleep with her. That it had been a routine play among them and after the girls confessed, the suspects were handed over to the police for investigation”, the source who spoke to this paper on the condition of anonymity said.

“They were accused of defiling the 10-year-old girl. She is on holiday with the mother here”, he adds.

When contacted, the police public relations officer in the state DSP Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident and stressed that police officials were already investigating the case. According to her the suspects had been transferred to the police headquarters and statements and had made confessional statements.

“The suspects were arrested; police medical performer was served accordingly for medical report. And the parties have been transferred to police headquarters for further investigation”, she said.
