Police launch manhunt for killers of Delta community leader

The Delta state police command, on Sunday, said it commenced serious manhunt for the killers of a 33-year-old community youth leader, Collins Awoture, who was shot at a close range in a provision store at Enerhen Junction in Uvwie local government area
DSP Edafe Bright, acting police public relations officer in the state, in a statement he signed, said that the deceased, who doubled as the quarter chairman of Emieki community in Enerhen, was said to have gone to get some toiletries in the shop at about 11:35 pm on the fateful day when he was ambushed by his assailants. It was gathered that, during the incident, there was sporadic shooting by the assailants, such that residents of the area scampered for safety leaving the victim at the mercy of the killers.
The killers, numbering three, were said to have opened fire on the victim at a very close range killing him before leaving the scene. Policemen on patrol from Enerhen police station got to the scene, saw the lifeless body of the victim and removed it to the mortuary.
The state police command, in another development, has confirmed the murder of one Henry Oyuwe , 33, who was shot dead by unknown assailants at a fishing lake in Igbide community. DSP Edafe Bright, acting police public relations officer in the state, said that the victim, who was recently married, was in the company of four others while going to the fishing lake when they were attacked by some youths suspected to be indigenes of a neighbouring community in Isoko South local government area of Delta state.
However, four out of the five managed to escape unhurt, while the victim was not lucky as he died as a result of bullet injuries.
