The FCT Police Command on Tuesday arrested five members of the proscribed Islamic Movement In Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites in the FCT.
In a statement issued by ASP Yusuf Mariam, FCT Command PPRO, which was made available to Daily Orient on Wednesday, the arrest was because members of the proscribed religious sect embarked on a procession with dangerous weapons with the intent to hurt innocent citizens and destroy public property.
Those arrested were in possession of large stones, which they intended to use to cause havoc, ASP Mariam stated.
She said the suspects would soon be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation, while appealing to residents to remain calm and law-abiding.
