Petrol Tanker Accident Causes Fire Outbreak in Anambra

A petrol tanker accident has caused a fire outbreak at Daymaker petrol station, Aguleri in Anambra state.
Though no casualty was recorded, the fire was said to have emanated when a petrol tanker was offloading DPK (Kerosene) in a filling station at Aguleri roundabout.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra state Police Public Relation Officer, CSP Haruna Mohammed said the fire was extinguished and investigation commenced to ascertain circumstances of the incident.
“On 21/2/2021 at about 3:pm, there was a fire outbreak at Daymaker filling station Aguleri roundabout in Anambra East LGA of Anambra State. The fire allegedly emanated from the tanker laden with DPK (Kerosene) inside the filling station while discharging its content. As a result, the truck was gutted by fire which razed down part of the filling station.
Haruna said Police operatives led by DPO Otoucha Division, CSP Etah Baba and other Sister Security Agencies quickly mobilized to the scene and cordoned off the Area to prevent looting and further catastrophe.
He further stated that the state Fire Service promptly responded when contacted about the incident. He confirmed that no life was lost neither was there reported injury following the incident.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi appealed to filling station owners to always apply safety precaution while offloading fuel in order to avert similar ugly incidents which could also lead to loss of lives and injuries especially during harmattan periods.
Reacting on the incident, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Nupeng Petroleum and Union Matters, Hon Comr Peter Nwosu urged the public not to panic over the petrol tanker fire accident that happened while the product was being discharged.
He said that the trucks procured for Anambra State Fire Service has been dutifully utilized in curtailing the devastating effect of the inferno.
Hon. Peter Nwosu also commended the Chief Security Officer to the Governor for his prompt response in leading security operatives alongside fire service to the Petrol Station.
He urged the public not to panic but to remain undaunted as the Security of the life and Businesses of residents in Anambra are the Paramount important of the government.
