Panic in PH as explosion at PDP secretariat

There was panic and pandemonium at the secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt as an explosion rocked the office located on Port Harcourt-Aba expressway.
The explosion which was suspected to be dynamite was detonated in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) parked in front of the secretaria sent party members who had gathered for the local government counsellorship primaries scampering for safety.
Though nobody or group has claimed responsibility for the blasts, it was gathered that party members, who ran away later came back after calm had returned to the area.
A party member who was present at the time of the incident told our correspondent that the explosion there were two explosions.
“The dynamite was detonated by suspected bombers in an SUV car along the Aba road office of the party secretariat at about 3pm
It could not be immediately determined the reason for the blast, but the witness said it might not be “unconnected to allegations of imposition of candidates in some LGAs”.
“Calm has however returned to the secretariat”, he stated.
Efforts to get party officials or the police to comment on the incident did not yield any result as several call put across to the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command went unanswered same for text messages sent to him.
The Publicity Secretary of PDP, Tambari Sydney Gbara, could not also be reached for comments.
The PDP in Rivers state has been grappling with the problem of conducting an acceptable primary elections for the April 2021, local government election which has forced the State Independent Electoral Commission to adjust the programme of the elections this drawing protest from other political parties in the election.
