A frontline People’s Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant in the November 6 Anambra gubernatorial election, Mr. Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, Sunday, donated food items to over 2,000 women, drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state.
The food items include 5kg bags of rice, vegetable oil, onions and cash gifts, Orient Daily reports.
He made the donation in Awka, in commemoration of the Valentine’s Day with the party women, who, he likened as ‘those without husbands’, following the long absence of the party in the state leadership.
He said the gesture was to show love to the party women, who have made many sacrifices for the party, while urging them not to relent in their support of the party. He solicited the prayers and support of the women towards realising his ambition of becoming the next governor of Anambra state, come November 6, 2021.
Ozigbo also promised to fix the deplorable state of roads in the state, tackle erosion and flooding, as well as to leverage on technology in order to put the state on global map.
Responding, the party women leader, Hon. Justina Nwafor, described women as vital in any political or religious gathering, assuring that the party women would support any aspirant that emerge after the primary election to ensure PDP takes over power from the incumbent government.
