Oyo NSCDC deploys 150 officials to crisis-prone zone
Ojo Peter, Ibadan
The Oyo state commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya, has ordered the deployment of no fewer than 150 personnel of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) to some crisis-prone areas in the state.
Akinsanya, through a press release by the state command public relations officer, CD Oluwole Olusegun, called on the people of the state to support the personnel and other security agencies towards achieving a safer society.
The NSCDC boss also maintained that the deployment followed the recent security challenges witnessed in the state.
The statement posited that Commandant Akinsanya issued the deployment order at the Command Headquarters in Ibadan, during the monthly recap of security activities across the state, with the aim of fostering peace, order and unity among the residents of the area.
The deployed 150 personnel, according to Akinsanya, will be working with the already existing Agro Rangers to maintain peace and order in the affected areas.
The commandant, in the statement, announced the creation of three additional area commands to the original six, making a total of nine such area commands.
The three newly created area Commands are Area G- Egbeda, Area H- Kishi and Area I – Shaki.
He maintained that the security of the state should not be limited to government, stressing that all hands should be on deck to ensure safety of lives and properties in the state.
He, however, warned those that are hell bent on causing crisis in the state to desist from such act and promised to punish anybody caught according to the law. He stressed that the citizens and residents of the state should stop attaching ethnic or religious colouration to crime or criminality.
Akinsanya urged the entire citizenry of the state to join hands with NSCDC and other security agencies to end the menace of kidnapping, banditry, cultism, robbery, child abuse and other vices in the state.
He also enjoined the citizens of the state to always contact NSCDC control room whenever there is any breach of law in their vicinity on 08037149457, 09070473188 and 07089419444.
In a similar development, Commandant Akinsanya appreciated the state NSCDC contingent for representing the state at the last 2020 Military and Paramilitary games that recently held in Abuja. The contingent had performed brilliantly, winning seven gold and four silver medals.
