Orji Uzor Kalu declares bid to buy Arsenal FC
Former Abia Governor and the Senator representing Abia North at the nationwide assembly, Orji Uzor-Kalu has declared his readiness to buy 35 percent stake in the English Premier League club, Arsenal Football Club.
Kalu who is the current Chief Whip of Nigerian Senate in a post on his social media platform on Monday that the success of his administration with Enyimba FC has continuously increased his passion for football, hence his desire to acquire a stake in the London base football club.
In Kalu’s Twitter handle @OUKtweets on Monday evening, He wrote: “Our success with Enyimba football club between 2000-2007 has continuously increased my passion for football. As the pillar of sports in Africa, I am considering an investment in football and I will buy 35 percent stake in Arsenal FC.
“Our target is to lift the Champions League and Premier League back to back as we did in Enyimba.”
Recall that it was during Kalu’s reign as Abia governor that Enyimba Football Club rose to become a formidable club, winning the African champions league twice, the first Nigerian club to achieve the feat.
