No leadership crisis in Ebonyi APC – Ex-Chairman Nwachukwu
By Ruth Oginyi
Former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Ebonyi state, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze has disassociated himself and his lead State Working Committee of the party from the petition against the caretaker committee of the party led by Stanley Okoro Emegha.
Some persons suspected to be aggrieved members of the ruling party identified as Chief Silas Oketa, Hon. Linus Nweze and Chief Ogbu Joseph Nweke through their lawyers had written a petition against the Ebonyi State Caretaker Committee led by Stanley Okoro Emegha.
The people petitioned the national leadership of APC, over what they called the unconstitutional and illegal dissolution of the former SWC lead by Eze Nwachukwu and the appointment of the State Caretaker Committee of APC in Ebonyi State in November 2020 before the official defection of Gov David Nweze Umahi from PDP to APC.
But Pastor Nwachukwu who is now the Commissioner for Inter-Governmental Affairs, Ebonyi State, on Saturday while speaking to Orientdaily said that the petitioners are not members of APC.
According to the former chairman, the petition was the figment of imagination of the writers and maintained that
Ebonyi APC was peaceful and operated as an indivisible family,
His words, “I want to put it on records that the Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention, and Planning Committee and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni should know that APC Ebonyi State is peaceful and we are one house.
“What happened in Ebonyi State is a welcome development, I speak as the immediate past chairman should be in a better position to complain and not any man speaking on my behalf, we have admitted and stepped aside for better development and we have accepted it whole heatedly.”
“I want the whole world to know that the governor and the caretaker chairman have been carrying us along and in full.” Pastor Nwachukwu added.
He said that the dissolution of the State Working Committee and the constitution of the State Caretaker Committee by the National Executive Committee, NEC was in line with the constitution of the party and it came first before the nationwide dissolution of the State Working Committees and the appointment of the same people to remain in office in acting capacity till June 2021, to that effect, the case of Ebonyi was peculiar and should not affect the subsisting caretaker Committee in Ebonyi State that the Caretaker Committee led by Stanley Okoro Emegha is authentic, legal and constitutional.
Nwachukwu said the petitioners as miscreants who needed psychiatric attention. He dismissed the petition, regarding it as baseless, unfounded, and inconsequential material coming from faceless and non-existent fellows whose membership is not known to the party, he called the public and the teaming members of APC across the state not to take the petition seriously.
