Why I requested Nnamdi Kanu’s release – Fr. Mbaka

The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has disclosed that an offer made to him was the reason he requested for the release of re-arrested Pro Biafran leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Delivering a sermon in last Sunday’s Mass, the fiery Enugu Catholic priest said he made the request when agents of the government, whom he did not mention their names, allegedly came to him with what he termed ‘some juicy offers’, which he said he had refused.
Fr. Mbaka had earlier incurred the wrath of ecclesiastical and civil authorities when he had released prophetic and protective blessings on Kanu whom he described as a freedom fighter.
He said, “Some persons came to me some time ago and said they have two slots for me. I told them I don’t need such offers because I have a slot that I need. They said I should mention what I need.
“My first request was that they should release Nnamdi Kanu because since you people arrested him, we have lost many lives. So, of what use is his arrest if after he was arrested, kidnapping hasn’t stopped in the North? Arresting him does not solve the current insecurity bedeviling the nation,” he recalled
The fiery priest asked, “Where were the nation’s security agencies when several students were kidnapped?” he asked. He further urged the Federal Government to use the same energy deployed in arresting Kanu to arrest kidnappers and other bandits troubling the country.
While Mbaka attributed the rise in criminality to the activities of politicians who purchase arms for thugs during elections, he advised the government to use the same vigour used in arresting Kanu to arrest insecurity, poverty, and unemployment in the country, including tackling activities of herdsmen, injustice and nepotism.
Recall that the fiery priest had be at loggerheads with the Buhari Presidency it had vehemently campaigned and supported to ascend to power in 2015.
