Police kill 2 robbers on Lagos-Ibadan-Expressway
Police in Ogun state have shot dead two suspected armed robbers as they robbed commuters at Sagamu interchange, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The suspects, who were killed during a gun duel, were said to have inflicted machete injuries on one Adekunle Adewale.
The police public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, in a statement in Abeokuta, that the suspects met their doom following a distress call received by the police in Shagamu.
Oyeyemi said policemen went to the scene where they met the robbers attacking one Agba Enoch and immediately engaged them in a gun battle resulting to the death of two members of the gang.
The PRO said other members of the robbery syndicate escaped with gunshot injuries after inflicting machete cuts on Adewale who was later taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Exhibits recovered from them included three handsets, one mock gun, one electric clipper, three ATM cards and one blood-stained cutlass.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Edward Ajogun, who commended the gallantry of the policemen who engaged the robbers, saying the command had launched a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang in order to bring them to justice.
He, therefore, appealed to the members of the public, especially medical workers at the hospital, to quickly alert the police of anybody with gunshot wounds in their hospital or areas.
