According the SP Haruna Mohammed, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, the fire started around 2:15 pm in two short containers along High Tension School Road, Ugwuagba-Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.
He said that while Blessing Nwafor, the owner of the burnt sheds was not around as at the time of fire outbreak, her three children; Chiemerie, 5 years old, Onyedika, 4 years old and Esther, 3 years old “were burnt beyond recognition.”
Narrating further, Mohammed said that CSP Tony Adeyi, the Dividional Police Officer in charge of Awada Division, on getting hint of the incident, rushed off to the scene with his men and on getting there, they cordoned off the place and removed the remains of the three victims to Bex Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
He said that the police is still investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire incident.
Meanwhile, some days earlier, police detectives attached to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) Awka arrested on Mmaduabuchi Chinwuba in conjunction with vigilante of the area.
According the PPRO who broke the news to newsmen via a press release, investigations revealed that the suspect was a known criminal in the area and had been terrorizing the neighbourhood before his arrest.
It was also disclosed the suspect hails from Ebenebe but also operates in Awka, Anambra State capital.
