Chief of staff, Gambari, hits Ilorin for Sallah

The chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, arrived the Ilorin airport on Sunday, on a home-coming trip ahead of this year’s Eid-al-Adha celebration.
Gambari, a retired diplomat with the United Nations, was named chief of staff in 2020 and had not been able to pay such a visit to Ilorin ever since.
On arrival, into the warm embrace of dozens of top Kwara state government officials led by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi.
The chief of staff to the president touched down in Ilorin at exactly 5:27 pm amidst cheers and jubilation from thousands of residents who had thronged the airport on getting the hint that he might be around.
The state deputy governor, who stood in for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, welcomed Gambari to the state on his first visit since his appointment in the presidency May last last year.
The Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker Hon. Yakubu Danladi, Senators Yahaya Oloriegbe (Kwara Central) and Sadiq Umar (Kwara North), secretary to the state government, Professor Mamman Saba Jubril, Kwara APC caretaker chairman Abdullahi Samari, former Ambassador to Malaysia Nuhu Muhammed, APC party elders and other party faithful were in the welcoming party which headed directly to the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari with whom the CoS had a private audience.
