Benue Govt lashes FG over alleged negligence of IDPs

The Secretary to the Benue State’s Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, Dr. Emmanuel Shior has blamed the Federal Government for negligence of Internally Displaced Persons in the State. 

The BSEMA boss made the declaration recently in Makurdi while distributing relief materials to over 1.5 million Displaced Persons scattered across the three senatorial Districts in the State. 

The relief materials distributed included; over ten thousands bags of 25kg rice, beans, indomie noodles and assorted grains. 

Dr. Shior also maintained that the rising cost of catering for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons was above the capacity of the State government and therefore appealed to meaningful Nigerians to augment their efforts with a view to saving them from hunger and starvation. 

He further noted that the humanitarian crises being confronted with by the State and the agency is alarming, calling for intervention, by whoever is disposed to assist the State overcome the calamity. 

According to him, “a situation whereby markets, schools were closed down for several years,  people Displaced from their  ancestral homes ,while herders forcefully  took over their lands is most dehumanizing”.

“Despite all these odds we are being faced with, some miscreants members of All Progressives Congress APC in the State are pointing accusing fingers at Governor Samuel Ortom of masterminding incessant killings in the State”, he further fumed.

” In spite of all these trauma Gov. Ortom underwent  in the course of  fighting for protection of   his  people,  these people had joined hands with Jihadists to smear his hard earned reputation ,  which  I believe it will not go down well with them for  making these unfounded claims”, he concluded.
