Anambra traditional rulers to tackle youth’s restiveness, unemployment

The Traditional Rulers Council, Anambra State, said it has plans to join hands with other stakeholders in tackling youth restiveness across communities in the state.
The chairman of the council and Onitsha traditional ruler, Obi Alfred Achebe, disclosed this when they received the Commissioner of Youths Enterpreneurship and Creative Economy, Mr. Afam Mbanefo and other staff of the ministry during a courtesy visit in Awka.
Achebe, represented by the traditional ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor, noted that young people were vital to the future of any nation, stressing need for all collaborative efforts to address youth restiveness.
He assured that traditional rulers would get youths in their domain to register and cue into the empowerment programmes of the ministry to become self-reliant and employers of labour.
Other traditional rulers, who spoke with newsmen appreciated Governor Willie Obiano and Mr. Mbanefo for coming up with such empowerment initiatives, with key focus on training talented youths for sustainability.
They prayed God to bless and reward them as they champion the cause of bringing youth restiveness to barest minimum in the state.
Responding, Mr. Mbanefo enumerated other 2020 activity and programmes to include, one youth, one skill; youths in agriculture, Anambra concert, Youths TV, Movies, Entertainment and Skill development; among others.
