Fast-rising Nigerian rapper, Jeremiah Chukwuebuka Ani, popularly known as Jeriq Tha Hustla is a talented songwriter and Hip-hop artist from Enugu state, Nigeria.
He is popular for delivering rap in his language, Igbo mixed with pidgin English just like other Igbo rappers from the tribe such as Phyno, Tidinz, Zoro and Lucy Q who are also notable for mixing the two languages in their rap lyrics.
Born in 1999, JERIQ, the First Child of a family of 5, was raised by his mother in Nkpor, Anambra State. He had an incredible street minded upbringing where he moved from one struggle to another while kicking off his music career at a very young age.
Jeriq had both his primary and secondary education in Enugu State. After his secondary school education at College of the Immaculate Conception, C.I.C, Enugu State, he couldn’t go back to his base, Nkpor, due to gang activities that terrorized the city.
He later gained admissions to the Enugu State University Of Science & Technology to pursue his bachelor’s degree.
He got into an alleged crime that got him locked up, which gave him more reasons to give up the street life and focus on his music career.
At the age of 15, Jeriq debuted in 2015 with his viral hood single “ IYOO “ which he recorded in studios at Ochanja Roundabout Onitsha.
He took interest in music at a young age and continuously nurtured his talent to become one of the well-known rappers to come from the east.
His music career has consistently been on a steady rise, dropping incredible tracks with each of them strengthening his stand in the street of the eastern rap game.
In 2018, he joined Handed Music Empire, perfecting his skills, flow and style, which has earned him a place among the top Igbo rappers; the likes of Phyno, Zoro, Tidinz, Quincy, Lucy Q etc.
By early 2019 he started popping in the streets with trap songs like Paper, Police Matters, Last Last, Hussle O Clock and many more tracks.
By 2020 he featured a Big Dawg in the music game “ ZORO “ in his viral rap song/video titled “ NO MORE NLEKA “ after that he released a six-track E.P titled “ HOOD BOY DREAMS E.P “ which PHYNO the Playmaker recognised, weeks after that JERIQ linked up with PHYNO in the studio and collaborated on ( REMEMBER ) track 3 in the HOOD BOY DREAMS E.P.
He dropped the visual of the track which was shot by TG Omori.
