Veteran league striker, Josia Maduabuchi, chose a perfectly right time to score as Nnewi United ensured that Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, eight match winning streak came to crushing end Saturday at Rojenny Stadium, Oba, in a Nigeria National League match day nine fixture, Orient Sports reports.

Maduabuchi, a former FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Enyimba of Aba forward five minutes before the final whistle in the thrilling clash and wasted no time in dedicating the match winning srike to his coach, Fancy Ewulu, a former Nigeria junior international goalkeeper.

“I’m dedicating the goal to my new coach, Fancy Ewulu”, starts the bully forward.
“We promised before the match that we would fight for him and as God may have it, we succeded, so I’m dedicating the goal and the victory to him”.
Maduabuchi remained humble even in victory as went on to pay glowing tribute to the quality and potentials of Nigeria’s foremost clubs, 3SC, despite the win.

“It wasn’t an easy one, Shooting Stars are a difficult team and you can see that yourself. But we fought like men. It hasn’t been easy for us since the start of the season. In most of our previous matches here on our home ground, we would struggle to score but before you know it, our opponents would equalise.

“Not that we weren’t doing well but today we’ve managed to win. So I’m very happy, the entire team is happy as you can see the celebration. The grace of God made this possible to happen this way that I scored the only goal that gave us victory”, Maduabuchi said.

It was Maduabuchi’s second goal of the season and he said they would take the winning mentality to their next game.

“We would keep our focus, we wont relax, this is NNL (Nigeria National League) for you. If you relax just because you’ve won a game, it becomes difficult for you to win the next game, especially when its an away game.
“So we are going to keep our concentration, focus and confidence in our next game which is an away match and I believe that if we can replicate what we’ve done here today (Saturday, against 3SC), we would get something back from our next match which is an away game”.
