Foundation rewards 50 students for exceptional performance

No fewer than 50 students of the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Convent, Oraifite, in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state, have been awarded certificates and cash prizes for their outstanding performance by Sir. Emeka Okwuosa Foundation.

The presentation was done during the annual prize giving day for the just concluded academic session, held in the school.

Orient Daily reports that the winning categories include the best three students in English Language, Mathematics, Pre-vocation Studies, Basic and Technology, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in junior class 1, 2 and 3, as well as senior secondary 1.

It was also learnt that scholarships were given to four indigent students, who emerged as the overall best in different subjects, and over 300 other students benefited from the foundation’s secondary school scholarship scheme.

While presenting the prizes, the proprietor of the school, Sir Okwuosa, noted that the students would not have achieved such academic feats without proper leadership and hard work by their principal and teachers.

He urged them to keep up the good work and enjoined them to do more, even as he tasked the beneficiaries to see the gifts as a call to continue working hard in all their academic endeavours.

The beneficiaries and their parents, in separate interviews,  commended the benefactor, Sir. Emeka Okwuosa, who through his foundation, had made their education possible.

Creative performances by the students ranging from drama, educational talk, choreography, and so on, formed the high points of the event.

Dignitaries present at the event include His Grace, Most Rev. Prof. G.I.N Okpala, chairman, Board of Governors of DIOMeco. Others include Comrade Josiah Nwosa, Dr. Ikem Odumodu, former DG, SON; Hon. Humphery Nsofor, former majority leader, Anambra State House of Assembly; Staff of Oilserv Limited led by the Corporate Communications Lead; Chioma Orji; among others.
