COVID-19: Abia Poly donates automated hand-washing machine

The Chairman, Abia State Inter Ministerial Committee on COVID-19, Chris Ezem has challenged the management of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba to take the lead in technological research and produce items that will assist the State in the fight against the COVID-19 disease.

Ezem who was speaking while receiving on behalf of the state, 20 pieces of specialized semi automated hand washing machines, hundreds of bottles of hand sanitizers and 1000 face masks produced by the institution thanked the institution for the gesture.

He disclosed that the state government was not leaving any stone unturned in fighting the disease in the state, adding that Abia was ready to nurse infected persons back to health.

Ezem who is also the Secretary to Abia State Government disclosed that the machines will be deployed to ministries in the state to improve standards of hygiene.He called on citizens and residents of the state to observe government guidelines on the prevention of the pandemic.

Earlier while handing over the items to the Governor, the Rector of the Abia Polytechnic Aba, Professor Ezionye Eboh said the donation was the institution’s way of assisting the state government in the fight against the coronavirus disease. He lauded Dr Ikpeazu’s concerted fight against the dreaded pandemic and pledged their support to the fight.

Prof. Eboh sought the governor’s approval for the commercial production of the semi automated hand washing machines.
