Prof. Soludo wins Anambra governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the just concluded November 6, 2021 Anambra State governorship election.

The declaration was made by the INEC returning officer, Florence Obi, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar on Wednesday morning, November 10, 2021 at the INEC state headquarters, Awka.

Declaring the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as the winner, Obi said, “Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

Prof. Soludo pulled a total of 112229 votes to defeat his two closest contenders, Valentine Ozigbo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored a total of 53807 votes and Senator Andy Uba of All Progressive Congress (APC) who pulled a total of 43285 votes respectively.

A total of 18 political parties participated in the governorship election. According to a final result announced by Obi, a total number of 2466638 voters were registered in the state while 2533888 voters were accredited during the election. Total votes cast is 249631, total valid votes is 241523 and total rejected votes is 8108.
