Anambra poll: Why PDP has not wrestled power from APGA – Group
A group, Independent Leaders Forum (ILF) has attributed failure of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in reclaiming power from the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance in the past 16 years in Anambra state to ‘imposition of candidates’.
It vowed to elect a 3-man Ad-hoc ward delegates in the 326 wards accross the state to ensure that the right and credible persons were elected.
ILF is a group of stakeholders formed by PDP members with the vision to work towards the success of the party in the state.
The group made their intention known in a letter titled: ‘Re ward congresses to elect three-man Ad Hoc ward delegates-Intention to monitor/observe the congresses in the 326 wards by ILF, copied to PDP Governorship Aspirants, BOT Members and major and critical stakeholders.
The letter signed by the President, ILF, Obinna Okafor, was also sent to the NASS/State Assembly Members, NEC/NWC/Zonal Officers, State, LGA, Ward Executives and all members of PDP in the State.
The letter partly read, “In line with the Vision and Mission of the Independent Leaders Forum to collaborate with our great party, PDP to ensure a Transparent, Credible, Free and Fair Primary process, the Forum wishes to announce that it has set up a Situation Room, to monitor the Ward Congresses for the election of the 3-man Ad-Hoc Delegates in the 326 wards, scheduled for June 10, 2021.
“We have also assembled a team of Lawyers who shall not hesitate to send your petitions to the Congress/ Appeal Committees where evidences of manipulations or irregularities are recorded.
“It has become pertinent that it is only a generally accepted candidate produced by the majority of the delegates, that can put an end to PDP’s 16years of being out of power in Anambra state, which was mainly caused by imposition and other forms of self-inflicted defeat at the general Polls”.
The group urged members of the party to join hands and ensure that delegates votes counted in the forthcoming polls.
