A former gubernatorial candidate in Anambra State, Chief Ikem Ohanugo, has described as unfair, bias and undemocratic the alleged endorsement of the former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Chief Charles Soludo, as the candidate of All Progressive Grand alliance, APGA, by Governor Willie Obiano and Senator Victor Umeh ahead of the Party’s primary election.

Reacting to the endorsement, Chief Ohanugo questioned, “let me ask you quite frankly, do we really have democracy, I think democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. So, nothing stops the party from saying that they want to adopt a particular candidate and no other person buys form”.

“They can’t make a man a sheep by asking him to buy a form believing he’s an aspirant while one person has been adopted. That’s foolishness. “The only state where APGA is relevant is Anambra state. APGA is supposed to be for the South-East. They should allow an open contest rather than being behind and making people that bought their forms look like fools”.

“How do you want to formalize the contest in the first place? You don’t expect me to pay for a form and tell me that someone has been adopted. The primaries must be conducted free, fair and credible and that’s the beauty of democracy and not shutting someone up as if he doesn’t belong”.

On the incessant killings currently going on nationwide, he accused the All Progressive Congress, APC-led Federal Government of being the brain behind it, alleging that the situation has resulted in uncertainty.

“Federal Government brought us to this, we don’t know who is doing the worst. What is unknown gunmen? They go around while we have intelligent unit. Why haven’t they detected them? We are creating more problems on ourselves (by the fact that the) APC ruled Nigeria, nobody is to be spared in what is ahead of us”

Continuing, he said, “The truth is that I don’t know where we are going in this nomenclature called Nigeria because it is not a country. Many people make useless statement based on ethnic nomenclature, you and I don’t have anywhere we can go to and call a home, if at the end of the day, they bring genocide, we all must suffer it.

We don’t have a country talk more of a nation, the government in power is systematically
destroying Nigeria as a nomenclature”, he claimed.
