Grocery valued at over N10 million destroyed in auto crash

A road accident last weekend involving a lorry-load of assorted accessories at Ayati, along the Ikpayongo road, leading to the North Eastern part of the country through Benue state.
Orient Daily gathered that the driver was on high speed, heading to Yola and, in an attempt to avoid a police road block, swerved in a way that the vehicle summersaulted in a crash.
People around in the community and passers-by rushed to the scene where the driver, identified as Mallam Kabiru, alleged that the policemen on duty, on sighting his vehicle, ordered his subordinates to halt him by blocking the road. By then, “1 was on high speed and I did not notice this early enough before I could make any move, my vehicle was already off the road, veering to the opposite side of the road due to my inability to control it.”
According to him, “I am completely upset and heavily devastated due to punishment awaiting from the owner of the truck.”
Though no life was reportedly lost in the accident, assorted grocery including noodles, corn flakes, tin milk, biscuits, all estimated at over
N10 million were destroyed in it.
