Kwara APC leadership crisis deepens, caretaker excos insist on Bolarinwa

The caretaker executives of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kwara state, on Monday, said it insisted on the continued leadership of Alhaji Bahir Omolaja Bolarinwa as its chairman.
The caretaker executives who spoke during a press conference at the party secretariat in the Ilorin GRA, explained that its decision to insist on Bolarinwa was strictly in line with party constitution and principles.
Speaking on behalf of other executives, Mr Theophilus Oyebiyi who spoke on behalf of the group said that the NEC of the party had on 8th December, 2020 declared that all state executive be transmitted to caretaker committee from ward level across board to run the affairs of the party for the next six months.
He argued that Bolarinwa executive, in caretaker capacity, as ordered by the NEC, had not been disbanded and so will continue in office until a contrary order from NEC.
He explained that it was upon that derived authority, Bolarinwa, having been sworn in at Abuja returned and sworn in other state and local government executive caretaker committee members on 14th December, 2020, adding that all those sworn into office were still serving, with Bolarinwa neither contravening any regulation, law or queried as to warrant his removal.
He also stated that Alhaji Sanmori Abdullahi was also sworn, dutifully taking the oath of office from Bolarinwa as his deputy and that his actions against the caretaker chairman was an “aberration and a travesty of justice.”
He called the reported suspension of Bolarinwa, a backdoor plan and “wicked conoctment.”
Ebonyi govt distributes relief materials, cash to Effium/Ezza refugees (NEWS)
The governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Umahi, has directed immediate deployment of food items, clothing and cash to mothers, girls above 18 years and men above 60 years to Effium and Ezza Effium people in Ohaukwu council area of Ebonyi state ravaged by communal crisis.
Umahi, according to a government statement also ordered enumeration of houses of all widows and fathers above 70 years old that were burnt for his immediate attention.
“Governor Umahi has equally approved the construction of a permanent army checkpoint in Effium community to protect the people. He appealed to all those who ran away from their communities to return as adequate security is in place.
The statement disclosed that state officials arrested will continue to be in detention through court order until normalcy returns, assuring that those involved in wasting the lives of our people will be charged with murder.
