I’m thrilled to win Best Player of the Month again – Eze
Nigeria and Crystal Palace of England midfielder, Eberechi Eze, has expressed delighted after he was named as The Eagles’ Best Player of the Monh award for a second time this season, Orient Sports reports.
The dazzler is only in his very first season since arriving at the Selhurst Pak from Queens Park Rangers, but his heroics have again seen him rewarded as the best player in Roy Hodgson’s team for the month of January.
Monday’s recognition was the second time the 22-year-old scooped the monthly accolade in his debut Premier League season, having won the prize in November.
Last month, the dredlocks-wearing Eze helped Palace win two of their five English Premier League matches, with his contribution of two goals, thereby affirming his status as a very promising youngster in the squad.
The England under-21 international now had a return of three goals and three assists after 20 league appearances for Hodgson’s side before the start of this season.
His stunning strike of extraordinary quality on January 2 sealed a 2-0 win over Sheffield United, closing the month with another match-winning goal that gave the Eagles a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on January 30.
Eze’s contributions were not ignored by the fans who gave him 36 percent of their votes to win the award while Vicente Guaita and Jairo Riedewald followed in the second and third spots respectively.
The 22-year-old has been outstanding since he moved to Selhurst Park on a five-year deal from Queens Park Rangers in August and his beautiful solo strike against Sheffield United has been nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Month for January.
Eze, whose efforts have kept the Eagles on 13th spot on the EPL log, level on 29 points with Leeds United, beamed with smiles after Palace disclosed: “ You voted @EbereEze10 as the W88 Player of the Month! #CPFC”.
