By Yolamchi Ukaga, Aba
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing quality education at all levels, as well as conducive environment for teaching and learning in the state.
The governor stated this on Thursday, during the foundation-laying ceremony of the permanent site of the Abia State College of Health and Management Technology, Aba, situated at Umuobiakwa, in Obingwa local government area of the state.
Ikpeazu observed that the present location of the institution in the heart of Aba, had become unsustainable, owing to increasing commercial activities in the area, which according to him, impedes smooth academic work.
The governor avowed that the new site is not only perfect for academic work, but will give greater impetus to the agenda of his administration to spread development across all parts of the state.
The relocation of the college from the Aba city centre, the governor noted, would drive economic development from the city and help enhance the development of the hinterlands.
Governor Ikpeazu assured that construction at the new site will progress at a reasonable speed to enable the college move to the site within a short time.
Michael Ibe Nwoke, chairman, Obingwa local government area, thanked the governor for siting the new college within his locality and assured that the people would provide the needed support for project at all times.
