Nigeria teenager and Arsenal of England winger, Bukayo Saka has confessed he disappointed his father following his decision to switch his international career to England despite his eligibility to plat for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Orient Sports reports.
Nigeria was keen to have Saka on cards for the national team and the youngster’s father did not appear keen to influence his son’s decision.
And what was supposed to be a proud dad was later to be left devastated by his son’s preference to The Three Lions ahead of the three-time African champions.
And the former England youth international was quick to say his father was disappointed with his decision.
“I think we all knew it will come down to when I will have to make a decision on my international future”, Saka says.
“We discussed it while I was playing for the youth team of England.
” My father and extended family member back home in Nigeria wanted me to play for Nigeria.
“I could tell that even my father has the same dream but didn’t try to influence me.
“I guess he was obviously disappointed when I picked England but happy that its what I want”, Saka said to former Arsenal Legend, Ian Wright.
