IPOB: Family cries out as police arrest son, 4 others

The Nwachukwu family residing in Onitsha, Anambra state, has cried to the high heavens, calling for the immediate release of their son, Mr. Afunwa Akachukwu Nwachukwu who was said to have been arrested, alongside four others by the police and tagged members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
In a press release in Onitsha, the elder brother to Afunwa, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu, said his younger brother was arrested with four others at Km 4/6, along Onitsha/Owerri road, early this month and had not been released or seen since then.
“He works as a chief security officer at Verdict of God Complex, Km 4/6 Onitsha/Owerri road. He lives at No. 6 Orient Street, Nkpikpa, Ogbaru local government area.”
He was said to have been arrested by the police Intelligence Respond Team, IRT, based in Owerri, Imo state capital, from his duty post, alongside his co-workers working under him at the complex.
“We, the family of Afunwa Nwachukwu, want to notify the police and public that the person arrested is a responsible and law-abiding citizen of Nigeria who goes about his business in accordance with the dictates of the laws of the land, “the release read in part.
“In order to put the records straight, Mr Afunwa Akachukwu Nwachukwu is not a member of IPOB and had never been a member of IPOB,” it further stated.
