FIVE DIED, 15 OTHERS INJURED IN OGUN AUTO CRASH

Five persons have feared dead in a ghastly auto crash that occurred on Wednesday at Danliti along Lagos-Ibadan Express way of Ogun State
15 other persons including a toddler also sustained various degrees of injuries from the accident.
An eyewitness account said that the auto crash involved a truck and a Mazda bus, whose driver lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the truck from the back who was trying to make U turn at Danliti.
The Commander, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, Prince Seni Ogunyemi, said that the cause of the accident was recklessness and loss of control of the vehicle on the part of the Mazda bus driver.
He said that both truck with the registration number APP 397 YA and Mazda Bus with the registration number EPE 575 XA were both coming from Lagos before the driver of the car lost control and hit the truck from behind leading to the death of the 16 people.
The commander said that five passengers occupying the bus including the motor boy died on the spot, while 15 other occupants including a toddler, whose mother can’t be ascertained to be among the dead victim, sustained various degrees of injuries.
He said that it took the efforts of the TRACE operatives and the men of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, and the police to evacuate the vehicles to Mowe Divisional Police Station.
Ogunyemi said that the victims have been rescued to Idera Private Hospital and their corpses deposited at the same hospital while the toddler is been taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH).
He therefore commiserates with the family of the dead victims, while urging drivers to desist from reckless and excessive speed, and ensure they have adequate rest before embarking on any journey because of its consequence
